Situated on the mouth of the Guadalquivir River next to to
the Parque Nacional Doñana, and on the "Wine Route".
It has traditionally held strong links with the Duques de
Medina Sidonia. The starting point for many great sailors
such as Columbus, Magellan and Juan Sebastian Elcano.
Delicious fresh fish and seafood can be enjoyed
in typical fisherman's quarter "Bajo de Guia" Bodegas
where the delectable "Manzanilla" Wine is produced.
In recreation, the town has good sports facilities, a yacht
club and bullring. Fine beaches where horse racing is held
in the month of August. Impressive monuments.
The Guadalquivir Fair , in Sanclucar de Barrameda,
is held in August. Some of the attractions of this colourful
fair are; river crossings, diverse performances, galas, bullfighting
and a literary contest. Also in August, horse racing takes
place on the beaches of this city.
