This part of the Spanish coast belongs to one
of the most privileged areas in Europe concerning the climate
- and is also referred to as the "California of Europe".
One of the important reasons for this is that the range of
temperature is constant.
The average temperature during the year lies
around 21 ºC and the fact that there are 320 sunny days
per year give you a good idea of how stable the weather is.
These conditions are rarely found in any other part of the
world.
The weather conditions might well also be a
reason for the easygoing way of life you will find here, as
well as the friendliness of people. There is no such thing
as stress and the most important thing is to enjoy life. New
arrivals often find it hard to adapt to this Mediterranean
attitude "mañana", however, pretty soon they
inhale this Mediterranean style of life and going back home
becomes very difficult, if not absurd.
Besides the climate and the easy way of life,
the good Mediterranean food also attributes to creating the
harmony of body and soul. Pick yourself fresh fruit or from
one of the many farmers markets, the use of olive oil and
the fresh caught fish and seafood are a pure pleasure to eat
and give the "Mediterranean Diet" its healthy and
precious character.
The white coast, directly translated, gets
her name from the endless sand beaches ranging from Valencia,
in the north, to the inland sea "Mar Menor" in the
south.
The water quality is especially good and therefore
almost all the beaches around Torrevieja have been awarded
the Blue Flag of the EU, promising not only crystal clear
water and clean beaches, but also modern infrastructure such
as children's playgrounds, Volley ball nets and showers.
Because of the huge amount of foreigners
living here, from all parts of Europe, the infrastructure
has become quite international and therefore - even if you
do not speak Spanish - you will find it quite easy to get
all the things you need for daily life. Modern super markets,
first class medical treatment as well as a good network of
banks are part of the normal service.
