Tarragona, a city located in the North Eastern portion of the Iberian Peninsula, is the southernmost provincial capital of Catalunya. Its mild climate, with an average temperature of its broad and clean beaches of fine sand, and its significant artistic and architectural heritage make Tarragona one of the Europe's main tourist attractions. Its seaport is one of the most bustling on the Mediterranean. In addition, Tarragona straddles the meeting-point of two Spain's most important motorways: the Mediterranean Motorway, linking Alicante with the French border and the rest of Europe, and the Northern Motorway, which links Tarragona with Madrid and the Basque Country.

Its 15 km of coastline boast long beaches: "Milagro", "Rabassada" and "Playa Larga", all with fine sand and smoothly sloping into the sea, with marvellous tiny coves sheltered by rocky outcroppings and dotted by green Mediterranean pines groves. Noteworthy among these coves are: "Capellans", "Tamarit" and "Calabecs".

"Romesco" and "Rossejat" are among the typical dishes, which cannot go without tasting, which visitors can find in any of the city's numerous restaurants.

Tarragona has become an important and prosperous commercial hub, with modern establishment offering visitors the possibility of a selective and a pleasant shopping experience. Shopping in its pedestrian-only shopping districts becomes a pleasant stroll through a city full of light. Tarragona is, in short, an open city awaiting you. The Romans already spoke of her thus: "...The city was enchanting for its hospitality, I think that it is a most pleasant place for repose. Its inhabitants, honourable, kind and orderly, are not wont to latch onto a visitor's neck as soon as they see them; they first appraise him and then welcome him hospitality."
